Hi everyone,
Glen here, new to the site and new to aquariums. I have gotten a used 55gal with two Whisper 60s. I am one week into the initial fishless cycle period with it. Though after looking at all the great tanks I am thinking of going planted. Right now I have about 3 inches of gravel so may have to start over though I am on a strict budget.

that is fine, just use fert tabs instead of a planting substrate. it will do just fine, or take some of the gravel out and toss a bag of very very very well rinsed flourite into the tank and mix it up.

Welcome, I appreciate your posting and look forward to more, I am in the process of revamping and modifying the site so any suggestions post them in the site suggestion part and I will do my best.

I like plants but they do not like me.

Maybe try fluorite some day, take it you have to wash it thourghly to stop it clouding up the tank.

Read some where that rabbit droppings are good for plants, anybody had any experience with this.
