I need alot more information then that, but start out with a 50% Water change and go from there, sounds like you need to clean the gravel and filters if its an established tank, if its a new tank its cycling.

what other info would you need ?   thinkin well its a 30 gallon H tank, with 2 hang on the back filters, and an under gravel. Its been up and running for 6-7 months. I have 3,  3 in. Kenyi ,a crawfish, a snail, and a placo. I also have live plants.2 weeks ago all was fine now all of a sudden it got  real cloudy, and a wicked ammonia spike the ammonia lvl was at 4.0. I proceded to do 30-50% water changes every day including today to get my ammonia lvl down, which it has gone down(quite a bit). But its still real cloudy. If there's any other info you need please tell me what type of info i will send it along.  Thank you for your time,

with an ammonia spike you need to clean the filters and possibly clean the gravel real real well. It sounds like decaying plant matter or possibly a fish causing this,

I just went thru this, I had to tear my 52 FBH down and start all over again, I was at 8.0+ with all fish surviving but 3.

what filters are on the back?

if you can take the fish out and do a massive water change around 75% or so then by all means conduct that WC ASAP.

i have a whisper 15,and a Aqueon 30,hanging on the back i checked the ammonia lvl this morning now its at a .25. Think im gonna do another 30% water change and maybe that will clear up the ammonia problem, but my tank is still real cloudy. Could this possibly caused by the high nitrates i was told by somone else that my nitrates are way to high, what do you think about that? Now if i clean the filter and gravel will that disrupt the tank and make it have to cycle again.I usually clean the filters on alternate weeks and just vacuum the top and the sides of the gravel (where i can see the poop on the glass). I do have a plant (1 of many) that the bottom leaves are starting to decay(since the ammonia spike) but the top is growing new shoots, think i should yank it and buy another,I have read that live plants are supposed to help with the Eco of the tank

plants do help alot, what I would do is a total gravel vac, seems that decaying plant matter and food have gotten the best of the tank.

Gravel vacuuming is some of the best stuff in the world, gravel contains "canyons" and ravines in it as well as small caves that food and deitrus get into and rot away, without the help of some eel like loaches or even an eel some cory cats and MTS( malaysian trumpet snails) YOU have to do the job of these fish and keep the gravel spotless.

ammonia spikes suck big time but it sounds like youa re pulling thru, mine wouldnt drop below 1.0, I had to gut my set up and start completely over.

you wont throw your tank into another cycle, if anything a 1-2 week mini cycle but those are less stressful on the inhabitants.

Let it run its cycle, it will clear up in due time.

If its white its bacteria,if its green  its algae.

No problem, anytime.
